Trip Report

Day Hike - Lake Ingalls

There was sun, clouds, snow and golden larches. We had a great time.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The trail is in great shape. The boulders before reaching the lake can be challenging. But that is a short section of the hike. Because it started to snow while were at  the lake, we cut our lunch break short. The rocks were starting to be wet and slippery and dirt was turning to mud. We didn't descend far before hitting dry trail.

The road is in good condition, any car should be able to make it. The parking lot would not have been full at any time Monday, at less than half capacity both when we arrived and when we left. Forest pass is not currenty required, the facilities are only maintained weekly (no TP).

The day followed the forecast fairly closely. We had sun and clear skies in the morning. Then clouds rolled in and it snowed while were at the lake, but no precipation just a little lower down.

The larches could be said to be past peak, but still a good show. We had agood time.
