Day Hike - Heather Lake (Mountain Loop)

Pleasant summer hike.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

  • There is new gravel on the trail starting from the parking lot up where the trail begins to descend to the logging road.  The lower part of the trail has been widened.  There are portions of the trail which have running water across the trail but is passable.  There is a large tree across the trail near the lake with two options to cross.  Crossing over the log on the right is better than on the left.  The trail around the lake is heavily overgrown.

Arrived at the trailhead around 9:30AM to a full parking area.  Parked in the new large parking area behind the pit toilet.  The road to the trailhead has been graded to eliminate most of the pot holes but some still exist.  Arrived at the lake around 10:45AM.  Departed the lake around 11:30AM and arrived back to the trailhead around 1:15PM.  The new large parking area was not full but all the parking spots around the perimeter were taken.
