Well maintained trail through a lovely forest. Gentle switchbacks lead to small, clear lake with lots of places to sit & snack. .2mi side trail about a 1/4 of the way up leads to amazing views of the San Juans.

Chuckanut drive closed for an undetermined amount of time to clear a significant rockfall. Exit 246 off I-5 to Old Samish road is a lovely drive that leads to Chuckanut drive. Drive south ~4.4 miles to Lost Lake Parking Lot. Good size lot with clean, well-stocked toilets. Discovery Pass required.
Lovely shaded, forested hike on a well-maintained trail. Trilliums, Bleeding Hearts & Skunk Cabage were beginning to bloom. Many varieties of ferns.
Early morning weekday trip & closure of Hwy 11/Chuckanut drive allowed for plenty of parking and few other people. This is a very popular and accessible trail. The Interurban Trail that leads to the Fragrance Lake trail is popular with cyclists so be aware & share the trail!
We had amazing Spring weather, clear & sunny. Started off cool low 50's and ended up warm nearly 70. Trail was dry with a couple of small, muddy areas.
We hiked slow & steady, stopping to look at flora & take pictures. We took the loop trail around the lake and the scenic overlook side trail on our return. Roundtrip just over 4 hours with a good snack break at the Lake.
