Day Hike - Dungeness Spit

The lighthouse is closed and the usual fee suspended. The county park is now open, so there was an open restroom at the trail head.

It was a beautiful day. We knew that low tide was 10 AM and high winds were expected in the afternoon. So we hit the beach at 8 AM. Sunny skies meant a good view. We observed seabirds, eagle, heron, a seal and explored tide pools. We were surprised that there were few other people on the spit. Also surprised that there were no ships to be seen. As we hiked back there was a flood of people coming out. The overflow parking lot was full and there were lines at the restroom.
