Day Hike - Coal Creek Falls

A pleasant evening hike in the woods of Cougar Mountain.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The trail was well marked and maintained.

Parking was readily available in the evening. The first attraction we encountered was an old mine ventilation shaft near the abandoned clay pit. There was a grate over it which is a good thing considering that it is 100+ feet deep. We then made our way to Coal Creek Falls which was a trickle this late in the season.

This was a short loop hike of a little over 4 miles with <1000ft of elevation gain. It was also hot out so hydration was a key component of the hike. Overall, it was a very pleasant hike.
