Day Hike - CHS 2 Margaret's Way to Debbie's View

Todd did a great job with a fun group of 6 CHS-2 hikers with a view of Rainier, banana slug, great conversation, and 16 bird species including a black-throated gray warbler, Pacific wrens, a raven, and some brown creepers. 2.5 mph pace felt easy for this strong group.

  • Successful
  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • At the trailhead at 8:15, there were only a few cars, not many for such a nice spring day. And not a whole lot more when we finished at 11:45.

The Portapotties are stocked, and the trail is in great condition, with no mud anywhere. Beautiful day.

6 Mountaineers members from CHS-2 enjoyed a lovely outing this morning with blooming bleeding hearts, trillium, a banana slug, and 16 bird species, including a raven, lots of Pacific wrens, brown creepers, and a black-throated gray warbler, a sure sign that the spring migration is on. We even saw Mt. Rainier from Debbie's View, an event I've rarely had the privilege of experiencing on this hike. We got lucky today.

Total 3.5 hours, 2.5 mph pace, with 7+ miles and 1700+ elevation gain. Next time, maybe we'll add a trip to the Central summit via Chybinski Loop and Bullitt Fireplace.
