Trip Report

Day Hike - Big Creek Falls & Otter Falls

Easy, flat trail with big rewards

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The road is passable for all cars; just a couple of (big) potholes after the pavement ends. We were able to drive all the way to the Snoqualmie Lake trailhead.

Trail is in great shape and easy to follow. The creeks were low, but rocks were icy so we had to watch our steps carefully. Poles were helpful.

A beautiful day out, much better than fighting the crowds at the malls on Black Friday! The crisp temperatures kept us moving and motivated; temperatures never got above freezing. We carried microspikes but they were never necessary as the trail is quite dry.

We had gorgeous peek-a-boo views of the craggy Middle Fork peaks through the trees. We visited Big Creek Falls first, then retraced our steps and went up the hill to see Otter Falls. The falls were partly frozen, and we watched some big chunks of ice break and slide down the slab.

Started hiking a little after 9am and back to the cars at 2pm. A great day out with a wonderful group!
