Trip Report

Cross-country Ski - Echo Ridge

A beautiful day of cross-country skiing at the top of the world at Echo Ridge overlooking Lake Chelan

  • Snow and ice on road
  • Trails were groomed for both skate and classic.  The majority of trails were groomed for the weekend.   Most trail junctions are clearly marked although it is helpful to print a copy of the site map before heading out.IMG_2449.jpeg

It takes about 30 minutes to drive from Lake Chelan to Echo Ridge.  The last part of the road to the ski area is often snowy and icy, so vehicles with good snow tires are essential.  There are both lower and upper parking lots that connect to the groomed trails.  The lots have privies.  The lower trails are dog-friendly.  Tickets cost $15 per person and there are envelopes to put your cash or checks in at the parking lots.

We stuck to the trails that were mostly green/blue and enjoyed a series of ups and downs as we wound our way around the ski area with views all around (when it's not too cloudy).  There were many animal tracks to capture our attention, and we were especially excited to find wolf prints (the trail managers told us they captured a wolf on their night cam).

A bonus on Sunday's is that the Nordic club hosts a "soup" lunch, in the warming hut, where we enjoyed the camaraderie of some of the other skiers that day.
