Cross-country Ski - Amabilis Mountain
Besides snowrec.org, kongsbergers.org, https://www.summitatsnoqualmie.com/nordic-skiing, and various state sites, unfortunately, Facebook is an important source for pre trip info. Esp. CCWRC's Facebook page.

Snow conditions -- unseasonable spring warming, exactly matching the forecasts we'd used. Don't know how it was on the lower trails, but Amabilis wasn't crowded at all, even below the Y. We never bothered to visit the hut -- not appealing when so warm. Grooming was on both L and R side of the Y, but we just did an out an back going up the R side, based on the wishes of other skiers in the group.
I'm absolutely not a fan of FB or Mark Zuckerberg. But unfortunately, FB groups, such as CCWRC -- Central Cascades Winter Recreation Council -- can be an important source of info when planning trips.
Of course, I checked grooming schedule, avy and weather forecast before our trip up Amabilis today. I also follow CCWRC's FB page, and saw on Thurs. a posting about events this weekend at Cabin Creek and
, including a race today, Sat., at Cabin that wasn't posted on kongsbergers.org, the place where Cabin Creek events are normally. This was the race https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=380194 After learning about it, we moved our arrival time at Cabin to 8:15 from 8:30. Even then, 45 min before bib pickup and an hour 45 min before the first race, upper parking was already half full, with volunteers managing parking.
I was glad to get there early and to know about the race in advance. (Our earlier start was also better for snow conditions -- unseasonal spring warming, exactly matching the forecasts we'd used.) Don't know how it was on the lower trails, but Amabilis wasn't crowded at all, even below the Y. We never bothered to visit the hut -- not appealing when so warm. Grooming was on both L and R side of the Y, but we just did an out an back going up the R side, based on the wishes of other skiers in the group.
A good fun day. Nice to not be surprised by the race. Too bad there isn't a non-FB source of important info like this. I don't know of it if there is.
