Trip Report

Colchuck Peak & Dragontail Peak

June 7/8 2014 Made camp at the south end of Colchuck Lake and headed up to Colchuck col. The area is much more melted out than usual for this time of year. Wrapped around left to the obvious gully towards Pandora's Box which was not visible from the col. Snow was excellent for kicking steps. We took the left hand gully roughly 100 ft below Pandora's Box. (exposed 4th class) This linked up to the 'correct' gully just below PB on the left. Only piece of advice I would give is to go almost all the way to Pandora's Box before heading left (less than 30 ft?). We did set up a hand line for a short exposed area about half way up to the sandy bench. From there a delightful ridge scramble to the summit. Aasgard Pass completely melted out for the descent.
