We had a great hike to Ebey’s Landing today. No cars were in the lot near the cemetery when we pulled in at 8am. It was 58 degrees with partially sunny skies. The bathroom was open, clean and had supplies. Red winged black birds, sparrows and bees were flitting in the yellow rape seed plants that extended for long stretches on the ridge trail before you reached the bluff. Many other wildflower flowers were blooming on the bluff trail. This area was great for bird watching especially down on the beach. We saw sandpipers, gulls, cormorants, swallows and 7 eagles swirling in an updraft above the prairie by the beach access. This year the beach had long sandy stretches that made walking fun without watching your every step. We had fun watching different boats in the shipping channel but were disappointed not to see any sea life. We enjoyed a lunch rest break on the beach logs and celebrated another on the trail birthday.
