Trip Report

Boston Harbor Vicinity

7/15/2015 Tide flooding at 13+ feet, mostly partly sunny with some clouds forming, winds 8 knots from the SW, waves < 1 foot at 630 pm departure. Paddled from Dofflemeyer Point/Boston Harbor E toward Dover Point. Noticed tidal races forming in Dana Passage to the NE and paddled toward Briscoe Point (S end of Squaxin Is). Great time for all and especially for some less experienced paddlers with mild tidal races a little over 1 foot < 2. Encouraged group to avoid getting cold or tired, to pull out when ready and the whole group pulled out together. Tide peaked to 14+ ft. Paddled SE into Big Fishtrap all the way to the end. Recovered, hydrated, snacked then headed W out of Big Fishtrap as tide began to ebb. Paddled along the shoreline back to Dofflemeyer Point/Boston Harbor against the ebb tide and wind landing about 830 pm with tide back to 13+ ft. No incidents to report. Saw a seal, gulls and an eagle. Departed with six paddlers and returned with the same six paddlers :-]
