Trip Report

Boston Harbor Vicinity

7/23/14. Earlier in the day, storm clouds had blown over and thunder storms were a potential. The weather had been a bit unsettled. I arrived at the put-in thinking that it was possible that no one would show up. But two hardy kayakers arrived and the storm clouds had cleared away leaving clouds on the horizon but mostly clear skies overhead. The three of us decided to circumnavigate Hope Island. As we passed Hunters point a sand barge with pusher tug came out of Squaxin passage. And when crossing the pot hole back to Boston Harbor a log ship came thru on its way to Olympia. We held up & let it pass in front of us. A 5-10 knot SW breeze and an ebbing tide accompanied us all evening. Estimated 6.5 nm.
