Basic Snowshoe - Kendall Peak Lakes Basin

This is a good, non-technical snowshoe for fit beginners. The road takes you to fine views at 4500', with a short excursion to the pretty lower lake basin. Limited avalanche exposure.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Arrive early to get reasonable parking. The lake basin is very pretty and should be on your itinerary.

We hiked up the road in a narrow snowshoe track, knee-deep at the bottom, due to all of the recent snow. The early snow cleared and we even got a little sun and some very interesting cloud and sun light. We took lunch in the open spot at the junction to the lakes, where it started snowing. After a quick visit to the lower lake, we turned into the wind and worked our way back down. Fine day.
