Basic Snowshoe - Granite Lakes via Granite Creek

Winter arrived this week. Just not here.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Immaculate new parking lot with toilets and beautifully constructed trail should make this a very popular destination close to town.

Our group of 7 caught a break in the weather, with some sunshine at times, on a winter hike to Granite Lakes.  We wisely left snowshoes behind as this week's snows didn't accumulate at the 3100' lakes, and there was at most a few inches of snow starting about halfway up.  Small creeks are all easily crossable, and the trail wasn't icy enough to need the spikes we brought.  5 hours including breaks at moderate pace.  Should be a nice snowshoe option once the snow level gets lower.
