Basic Glacier Climb - Mount Shuksan/Sulphide Glacier

Excellent climb in late season conditions.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles

The route stays high and to climbers left on the glacier. Numerous exposed crevasses and a few icy spots (all very low angle).  To gain the SE rib we went left of the obvious low angle ice pitch, scrambling talus which touches the glacier. Above the icy spot, one rock pitch (less than 20m) brought us to the rib. Four leads on excellent rock brought us to the summit. This was very fun. Rappeled and down climbed the gully, scrambling talus to the base of the low angle ice and the glacier.
