Basic Alpine Climb - Little Tahoma/East Shoulder

A great one day climb of Little Tahoma.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  •   The route is in excellent shape. Spotty snow on the trail down low and solid coverage after the last creek crossing. Instead of going up to Meany crest campsite we veered climbers right and landed on the next high point on the ridge. Roped up there and aimed straight for Whitman crest. Only one crevasse but is easily avoided. Once we crossed over to the Whitman side we traversed over and then up to the base of the scramble. The normal crevassing on this slop but all are off to one side or the other. Made the summit with sunshine and great views. An uneventful descent made for a great outing.

Trip notes- Left cars at 4:30am. Roped up on Meany crest at 8:30am. Summited 12:30pm. Back to cars at 6:30pm.

We also found running water right at the base of the scramble chute that we used to filled up for the for the way down.
