Banshee Peak

  • Scrambling

We all agreed this is a wonderful easy, but long, scramble with some of the best views in the Pacific NW. Trip was 15 mi, 3600 ft gain, took 9 hours total. We took frequent small breaks to hydrate. Flowers were wonderful especially at Summerland meadow and on the summit. Goat herd of 35 or so were grazing on the summit area. Very little snow. Used iced ax only on one steep area just before Panhandle Gap. We did not rest on the summit as thunder clouds were approaching. Then they parted and we had just a sprinkle of rain. Hot and sunny on the way out. A great group of 11 total on this trip.
