  • Ballard Locks to Edmonds Beach
  • Sea Kayaking

As posted this was a one-way and shuttle return trip. Everyone got ready and after briefing launch was on time. Our timing was great and got right into the Locks. We enjoyed some comradely with the other boaters and a few laughs. Leaving the locks we gave way to the bigger boats and went through the marina. Calm water and plenty of gawking at sail boats. Headed north passed Golden Gardens to Carkeek Park. This is the best stop on this route. A good lunch spot with bathrooms. Beyond this there are no other places to land before Richmond Beach. Carkeek Park was soon gained a head-wind of 8kts and fetch waves. The Ebb was in our favor until 2pm which was the time we passed the closed-down petroleum field and with 2 miles to go. We encountered sandbars more then 100 yards off the beach so we headed back into the channel and made a more direct approach to landing. Arrived at Edmonds beach at 3:30pm. Before landing the group spent time in the bay doing water practice. The only student in the group did his rescue practice and another did roll practice.
