Trip Report

Backcountry Trail Run - Middle Fork Snoqualmie River

Beautiful trail with mossy trees, small creeks, and the massive Snoqualmie River to keep us company - a PNW dream.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • Overall the trail was mostly dry but there were several (x4+) unavoidable creek crossings along the trail so feet got wet but not as much as when I did a reconnaissance run two weeks prior on 11/2. Rain really does make a difference on this trail, not just with mud but with actually standing and running water along the trail. There is one major creek crossing (about 8' wide) but passable crossing rocks, and using poles was a necessity. Two weeks ago that same creek was more river-like requiring a crossing just upstream from the main trail along a felled tree.

SE Middle Fork Road/NF5600 was mostly clear of tree debris and passable with all vehicles; parking was plentiful at the TH at 8a (but nearly filled when we returned, about 11:30a). Our group of 6 ran the 12 mile RT (out and back to the to the bridge crossing back over the Middle Fork at 6 miles out, upriver from the start); we completed the route in about 3 hours 15 min. We saw no large wildlife but it was a foggy, beautiful route, with 54F temps and not a drop of rain. Poles were a critical gear item, esp. for crossing the larger creek about 2.6 miles from the start.20251102_113509.jpg
