Due to Consierable avalanche forecast for the Snoqualmie Pass area -- choose to tour in the Salmon La Sac area. We parked in the Salmon La Sac Sno-Park and toured towards Jolly Mtn , generally following the firebreak cut for the 2017 Jolly Mtn Fire.
There was about a foot of fresh snow in the Sno-Park -- fortunately I have a high clearance 4wd van.Trailbreaking required considerable effort -- we took roughly 5 minute turns breaking trail.
Working up the fire break we found coverage to be marginal -- enough snow that creeks were covered for the most part -- but the snow surface still uneven from downed logs.
We managed to climb to a 3500 ft knob as our 2:00PM turn around time approached. We took a lunch break here got some glimpses of the surrounding terrain.
Skiing down was a bit challenging as coverage was thin and the snow was kind of heavy. We took out time and skied with care and had no incidents.
