Trip Report

April Hikes: 2.5 - 5 miles, 250 - 1,000 feet gain - Tiger Mountain Lowlands

What better way to cap off a workday than to hit the trail for a fast, spur-of-the-moment hike through the Issaquah Alps?

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The trails were in great shape and parking was easy, so we got moving right away. It wasn’t a big elevation day, but the route still felt lively—especially with wildflowers popping up along the way.DSC_0536.jpg

We crossed paths with a few trail runners, and the buzz on the trail was hard to ignore—other hikers swapped stories about a bear and her cub roaming nearby. We never managed to catch up with the pair, but knowing they were out there made the whole hike feel like a small backcountry quest. Along the way, wildflowers flared up between patches of moss and lichen, and with the trail staying fairly level, we covered ground fast and wrapped up a quick, satisfying adventure.  We even ran across an old school bus!DSC_0506.jpg
