Alpine Scramble - Wallaby Peak
This is a fun scramble with lots of opportunities for varying the route with more challenging sections possible.

This is an easily accessible scramble which provides lots of time on rock and some loose, unpleasant gully travel but that can minimized by picking harder sections on solid rock. I'm surprised that it isn't a more popular destination for Mountaineers scrambles because it has everything that you'd want in a good scramble, not the least of which is fantastic views from a peak that the USFS says is just 5 feet short of 8k'.
We had a great team with everyone working well together, looking out for each other and taking over responsibility for navigation to Kangaroo Pass. This last part resulted in some learning opportunities for everyone as we lost the faint trail and wandered too high on the southern slope of the valley but that just added to the sense of satisfaction in a job well done when finally getting to the pass!
