Alpine Scramble - Navaho Peak

Gorgeous day in the Teanaway! Plenty of sunshine but not too hot.

  • Road rough but passable
  • The Stafford Creek trail is in very good shape.  Several easy stream crossings were no problem.  Hit on and off soft snow near the camping area below the pass, then a few short stretches of snow up to the peak.  Carried but did not use ice axes and crampons, step kicking and plunge stepping was easy.  Clear skies gave us incredible 360 views all the way south to Mt. Adams.  About 14 miles rt, 4100' gain.  Six hours up, three down including breaks. A great day and a great group of Mountaineers!
