Alpine Scramble - Kendall Peak

Great day for a scramble. 4 hours to the summit, 45 minutes of summit lounging and 3.5 hours on the decent.

  • Road suitable for all vehicles
  • The PCT is still covered in snow for the last 3 miles to Kendall Peak except for a few bare dry patches.  The snow was hard and icy in the morning we had to wear micro spikes most of the way.  The summit block looked like it was completely melted out from the trailhead but it wasn't, there was still snow on most of the route.  I used crampons once I left the PCT until I reached the summit.  The snow is not very deep, the route should be snow free in a week or so.

There was more than enough snow for this to count as a snow scramble for the two students on this trip.
