Trip Report

Alpine Scramble - Fay Peak, Mount Pleasant, & Hessong Rock

Fun and scenic loop above Mowich Lake.

  • Road rough but passable

Parking was not a problem for 4 cars at 7:30am on a Sunday.

We did a clockwise loop following this track: Fay Peak - East Fay - Knapsack Pass - Mount Pleasant - Hessong Rock - Spray Park. The group consensus was that this was the best path (vs. counter clockwise) to avoid the steep down from Fay.

There were water sources throughout the day (before Fay, between Knapsack and Pleasant, and in Spray Park).

Mosquitoes were not a problem (we heard they were terrible the prior weekend).

The scramble took 7.5 hours allowing a little time to enjoy the views at each peak.

Most of us stopped at the Soda Shop in Wilkeson for ice cream, homemade sodas, and sandwiches on the drive home. Highly recommended.
