Whiteface Peak (winter)

Whiteface is 8 miles roundtrip with 2,300 feet of elevation gain.

GETTING THERE

Drive 1.6 miles east of Stevens Pass, then turn east into the plowed Stevens Pass "Yodelin" gravel parking area. Elevation 3,600 feet.

APPROACH & ASCENT

Cross Hwy 2 to the side street, and continue on it as it turns N and then W to its end, about 0.8 miles. Then do a rising traverse WSW to the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). Stay on the  PCT heading NW until the flat area at 4,450 feet. Get off the PCT and ascend N to about 5,000 feet, then head NW to the small saddle on the ridge. Follow the ridge SW to the Whiteface summit.

Notes

  • No parking pass needed during the winter.
  • The Yodelin parking area is an overflow lot for Stevens Pass. They keep it plowed, and it's free to park. Also it's first come first served, so on weekends arrive early before it fills up with people taking the shuttle bus to Stevens Pass.
  • Only the first 500 feet of the road-walk gets plowed (up to the first intersection).
