White Goat Mountain, Southeast Buttress
A rarely done alpine climb in Glacier Peak Wilderness area, located between Tupshin and Devore.
getting there
- Drive to Fields Point Landing / Lake Chelan to take the boat to Stehekin
- A bus shuttle (if available) to Harlequin bridge and then walk a mile to the Company Creek TH; bringing a bike (on the boat) is also an option, which will remove the dependency on bus shuttle
- Hike Company Creek trail for about 8 miles and around 4,350 start scrambling E towards 7200 ft saddle between Devore and white Goat and camp in Birds Lakes basin area.
The Southeast buttress route consists of one first pitch of low class 5 (~50 m) followed by very exposed scrambling along a knife edge. Geeting down requires two rappels.
