Washington Park Arboretum

The University of Washington and City of Seattle jointly manage this 230-acre arboretum along the shores of Lake Washington. Discover an assortment of plants found nowhere else. The Graham Visitors Center contains an information desk and a gift shop and the Japanese Garden is located at the south end of the arboretum.

Foster & Marsh Islands

7.6 miles round trip, 500 feet of elevation gain

Follow trails through Washington Park Arboretum to Foster and Marsh Islands on Union Bay. Continue along the Ship Canal Waterside Trail, then loop back to the Arboretum to enjoy late spring blooms and birds. Then head downhill to Madison Park to enjoy shoreline views and to find the hidden Beaver Lodge Sanctuary.

The maximum party size is for use by course field trips only, and includes both students and instructors. Group size maximums do not reflect how course field trips are run (in smaller groups of students and instructors), but allow for course leaders to register the course in our system.
  • This route allows multiple bookings. Please check scheduled trips listed below in the "Activities" tab to see if there is another group already booked on the same day. If so, please coordinate with them to ensure you are carpooling and teaching at different areas.
