Tieton River: Royal Columns

Tieton has two main climbing areas: The Royal Columns and The Bend. Although there are a few bolted routes, it is primarily trad climbing.

the "Price Of Complacency" Column Fell on 4/28/17. Oak Creek Wildlife Area Is Currently Assessing Area for Danger. 


From I-90, take Exit 110 for I-82/US-97 S towards Yakima.  After 30 miles, take the exit for  31A-31B for US-12 W toward N 1st St/Naches. Stay right to take Exit 31A and Merge onto US-12 W.  Follow US-12 for 17 miles, then take a right on Bethel Ridge Rd.. Park at the Oak Creek Wildlife Area.

The maximum party size is for use by course field trips only, and includes both students and instructors. Group size maximums do not reflect how course field trips are run (in smaller groups of students and instructors), but allow for course leaders to register the course in our system.
  • The Royal Columns are on DNR land.  Please keep group sizes small to minimize our footprint at the crag.
  • If you are scheduling a course field trip, please contact our Member Services Team to confirm the field trip and any permitting regulations.
