Skinwood Peak
A lesser known peak on the east side of Mount Washington (Olympics) that rises 2,200' and is 5.75 miles round trip. Open forest to a fun ridge, and a partially treed summit with views of Rainier.
A great scramble to escape people. Start from the Mount Washington route 1 trailhead. Walk the road a short distance to the Jefferson Pass Trail #800. Turn left up the trail to the saddle. From the saddle, go off-trail to your right, east, and follow the meandering forested ridge, which eventually opens up to a nice rocky ridge scramble, to a slightly bushwhacky summit. You'll be at the headwaters of Skinwood Creek, which is crossed down lower on the Big Creek Loop trail. You'll gain about 2,200' in just under 3 miles. Along the way you'll get great views of the east flank of Mount Washington, and then many sights north, east, and southeast.
