Leavenworth Winter Sports Club

The Leavenworth Winter Sports Club has 16 miles of gentle trails at four different locations near Leavenworth and the Icicle River suitable for cross-country skiers and for snowshoers of all levels. The easily accessible trails wind through a beautiful winter wonderland. In summer, there are six miles of trails through the forested slopes of the ski hill area with only 400 feet of elevation gain.

GETTING THERE

The Leavenworth Winter Sports Club (LWSC) maintains areas for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and mountain biking, all just off of SR 2 near Leavenworth.

ON THE TRAIL

Winter

  • Icicle River Trail: A popular 5-mile groomed trail system with several loops through parkland, along the Icicle River and past the DFW National Fish Hatchery. A great place for first-timers and for lessons. Please do not snowshoe on the groomed ski trail.
  • Icicle River Trails: Snowshoe Adventure Trail: This 3.1-mile marked trail winds through forested terrain and provides views of Icicle Creek. The trail is not groomed. Please do not snowshoe on the groomed ski trail. Dogs are not permitted.
  • Golf Course Trails: Five miles of snowshoe routes and groomed ski trails with sweeping vistas of the Wenatchee River and nearby peaks. Please do not snowshoe on the groomed ski trail. Dogs are not permitted.
  • Waterfront Trails: This dog-friendly trail is a mere one block from downtown Leavenworth and can be accessed from the end 9th street or the end of Division Street at the Barn Beach Reserve. It runs for just under 2 miles and is popular with cross-country skiers and snowshoers. Please do not snowshoe on the groomed ski trail. Dogs are welcome.
  • Ski Hill: As the name suggests, this is a very hilly course for intermediate-level cross-country skiers. There is a rope tow for downhill skiing, which is great for kids. Many activities and events are hosted here each winter. Warm up or get a snack at the historic Ski Hill Lodge. Personal sledding or tubing devices are not permitted at Ski Hill. This area may be closed at any time due to weather, so check their website for current conditions. Dogs are not allowed.

  • Hiking Trails: A six-mile loop "trail" system following dirt roads through rolling terrain in forests owned by the U.S. Forest Service. Dog are welcome.
  • Mountain Bike Trails: Bike on trails that range from green circles to black diamonds on this progressive-level system that offers options for riders of all abilities. The trails are multi-use so please be courteous to all users.
  • Endurance Course: Workout station along a trail built by Forest Service Firefighters, who train there with their fire equipment. The workout stations are open to the public for walking and biking, and there are suggested workouts at each station.
  • Theater: Enjoy summer musicals, live, outdoors and under the stars!
  • Ski Hill Lodge: Built in 1936 the cozy Ski Hill Lodge is a unique spot with great ambience and historic charm.
