Silver Star via North Ridge

A moderate, 5 mile hike with 1,000 feet of elevation gain, this peak is a favorite within the Chinook Trail System, which connects the east and west sides of the Columbia River Gorge.

Getting There

From Battle Ground, drive north on Highway 503 turning right onto Rock Creek Road. Proceed nine miles to Moulton Falls County Park. Pass the park, and turn right on Sunset Falls Road. Continue up this road seven miles to the Sunset Falls Campground.

Turning right into the campground, you will cross the East Fork of the Lewis River and be on Forest Road 41. Drive 3.5 miles on this road, then turn right onto Forest Road 4109. Proceed four miles on this extremely rough road to the road's end and the trailhead (3,000 ft).

On The Trail

This well marked trail begins on an older, worn road and follows a ridge line for the majority of the trip. The 4,300-foot peak yields expansive views  of the southwestern Cascades as well as  glimpses of Portland and Vancouver, and beautiful autumn foliage.
