Silver Star Provincial Park

Cross country ski dry, high-elevation snow on Canada's largest network of groomed trails at Sovereign Lake Nordic Club and SilverStar Mountain Resort near Vernon in British Columbia's Okanagan Valley

  • SilverStar Resort and the adjoining  Sovereign Lake Nordic Club are 15 miles NE from Vernon, B.C., near the north end of Okanagan Lake, and are located within Silver Star Provincial Park.
  • Sovereign Lake (see trail map) and SilverStar (see trail map) together have 105 km of groomed trails and several warming huts.  Nordic Pulse shows trail status.
  • Separate trail networks are also maintained for showshoeing (16 km) and fat-biking (15 km).
  • Accommodations are near the two resorts and in nearby Vernon. The Silver Star Resort Association website and the SilverStar website have information on lodging near the resorts. 

Considerations for international travel

  • Start by reviewing the latest regulations.
  • Everyone will need a passport or other valid ID such as a NEXUS card.
  • NEXUS cards can save a lot of time but only work if everyone in the car has one.
  • Make sure your vehicle insurance is valid for Canada.
  • Make sure your health insurance is valid for Canada.
  • Border crossing regulations are strict in both directions. Know what you’re allowed to take and declare everything to avoid problems.
  • You may be able to save time by checking alternate border crossings. Find apps that show updated times and other good tips.
