Sedona and Northern Arizona
Hike in the famous Red Rocks of Sedona, AZ and in the mountains of surrounding National Forests. Hikes vary from easy-going trails along streams to more demanding mountain treks. Red Rock monoliths draw the attention near town, while the over 12,000' elevation San Francisco Mountains call to the north. Grand Canyon National Park is also under two hours north of Sedona and makes for a great day trip.
Some of the best day hikes in the Sedona area are :
West Fork Trail
8 miles, 500' gain. One of the most popular trails in the state of Arizona. It features outstanding beauty--towering sandstone cliffs and a beautiful canyon and river.
Cathedral Rock
3.6 miles, 800' gain. Gorgeous Red Rocks and monoliths.
Bell Rock
4.6 mile loop, 400' gain. Red Rock monoliths.
San Francisco Mountains hike:
Weatherford Trail
10 to up to 20 miles. 3000-4000' gain. Hike up to the saddle or crest of 12,000' peaks. Amazing views, geology and fall color.
