Lake Roosevelt

The ancient geologic landscape of the upper Columbia River cradles Lake Roosevelt in walls of stone carved by massive ice age floods. Come explore varied and stunning shorelines, creeks and bays with abundant wildlife. Beautiful campsites and freshwater provide plenty of opportunities to paddle, swim, hike and fish in a different kind of paddling paradise in Northeast Washington, created by the Grand Coulee Dam.

With 22 public boat launches, 12 standard and/or boat in campgrounds with no permit or fee required Lake Roosevelt offers something for every level of paddler.  Paddle only a mile or two to the next campground or paddle the whole 130 miles.  Scenery changes from high desert to sheer rock faces to pine forest.  Some campgrounds are equipped with fire rings, picnic tables, potable water and restrooms with showers.  Plenty of shoreline camping opportunities for those willing to rough it without a fire. Wildlife includes elk, deer, wolf, coyote, fox, otter, birds of prey, frogs, chipmunk, squirrels and other critters that squeak in the night.  Fishing license and groceries can be purchased at one of the several marina locations along the way.  Campfires are allowed at discretion of National Park Service.
