Radio Tower Loop

A hike of 8.8 miles and 1,171 feet of elevation gain on logging roads on the east side of the Olympic Mountains 17 miles northwest of Olympia. On clear days enjoy views of the Olympic Mountains, the Salish Sea, and Mount Rainier. This is a good conditioner, and logging roads make for wide path with no mud.

Periodic Closures

JAN 2021 UPDATE: This is private property. This hike is currently only accessible on weekends because of an active mining operation along this trail. They are operating heavy equipment moving and isn't safe to be walking in this area during the work week. Workers may ask you to turn around. See the land manager (link below) for more information.

Getting There

Drive US-101 to Taylor Towne and park at the gate just off of West Kamliche Road to the west.  Parking is limited and carpooling is recommended. Be sure not to block any gates when parked.

On the Trail

Start this "lolly pop loop hike" on the gated paved road passing the quary and onto the loop. Hiking  clockwise is slightly steeper to start, and goes through forest and clearcuts.
