Price Lake

10-12 mile, approx 2500' approach to the rarely visited hanging glacial lake on the north slope of Mount Shuksan.

Getting There:

Take Hwy 542 Mount Baker Highway to intersection for Forest Service Road 32 to Hannegan Pass/Nooksack Cirque.  At the split take the right towards Nooksack Cirque with parking at the end of the road (approximately 2.3 miles from the hwy turn off).

Approach and Ascent:

Starting on the Nooksack Cirque Trail, continue for 2.8-3 miles to the old Price Lake Trail turn off.  There are mixed reports of bridge washout for crossing back over the North Fork Nooksack River which may require re-route further upstream.  Following the general route of the former Price Lake Trail ascend the east side of the Price Lake drainage.  There is a sparsely marked climbers trail with boot tracks and flagging, expect bush whacking here.  Once at the lake basin, it is possible to scramble to the lake itself or to the moraine to the northeast edge of the lake for up close views of Mount Shuksan and the Price Glacier.  This is the approach for the Price Glacier Route to Nooksack Tower/Mount Shuksan.
