North Fork Entiat River
Enjoy the beauty of Entiat Mountains as we backpack the 26 mile with 4000 elevation gain lollipop loop. The trail takes us to Fern lake, then continue to Cardinal Peak meadows, to Pyramid Mountain trail.
getting there
US-97 to east Entiat River Road for 32 miles. Straight onto National Forest Develop Road 51 (NF-5606)for 3.9 miles. North Fork Entiat Trailhead is 2 miles past Silver Falls campground.
On the trail
One can go either clockwise and start on Pyramid Creek Trail (#1439) or counter clockwise starting on North Fork Entiat River(#1437) toward Fern Lake.
Starting counter clock wise to Fern Lake (#1436). It is 6.1 miles to the junction to go up steeply for 1.5 miles to Fern Lake. Ford the river since there is no bridge. Go back down to the River trail and continue north to Cardinal Peak and find a campsite in the meadow. Possible day hikes to Saska Peak and Cardinal peak or Saska pass and Milham Pass. One can also hike 8.2 mile round trip to Pyramid Peak for a viewpoint of Lake Chelan. Continue on south Pyramid Creek trail (#1439) back to the North Fork Entiat trailhead. There are other side trips to Pyramid Mountain, Pugh Ridge and Graham Mountain if you stay longer in the area.
