Meany Lodge from Crystal Springs
We will ski from Crystal Springs 7 miles roundtrip with 700 feet of elevation gain and arrive at Meany Lodge in time for a hot lunch. We will explore some of the nordic trails at Erling Stordahl and the sled dog trails. Most of the route is intermediate but there is a steep section closer to Meany Lodge with most of the elevation gain. This can be done skis off if need be.
Please arrive by 8AM to give yourself time to suit up and use the bathroom if need be. We will depart at 8:30AM. The route starts at the Crystal Springs Sno-Park Lot 1 and passes through the Erling Stordahl area using the Forest Loop connection to the John Wayne Trail. We will head east on the John Wayne Trail and use either the Whittier Cutoff or the 3 Dog to connect to the 420 road then proceed to Meany. Lunch will cost $15. . Dietary restrictions can be entered when registering. This route is best done with metal edged backcountry cross country gear but it's possible with lighter gear for those with good skill and balance.
