McKenzie River: Olallie Campground to Paradise Campground
A class 3 whitewater run of 8.3 miles with a 49 feet per mile gradient through a forested landscape. Continuous type flow with almost nonstop rapids. Starts at Olallie Campground, or alternatively Frissell boat ramp for a shorter run that starts below Fish Ladder Rapid.
This is run number 89 in Soggy Sneakers, 5th Edition. It is a favorite river for paddlers, rafters, fisherfolk, and others who enjoy a beautiful river. The water is cold, the action is lively, and the scenery is excellent. Recommended flows are 700-2000 CFS.
Fishladder Rapid is a class 3 that can be scouted from the road after a short hike IF you can find the pull-off location along Highway 126 near milepost 16.

Highway 126 follows the river from Eugene, Oregon up to the upper reaches of the river.
Belknap Hot Springs Resort (private with a fee) is along this section of the river and can make for a relaxing after paddle destination. A couple of scenic waterfalls and Clear Lake are a few miles up the road. McKenzie Pass Highway (Hwy 242) up to the Dee Wright Observatory is a few miles away.
