Lost Valley Loop

A moderate 8-mile loop hike in the Capitol Forest near Olympia. The trail is open to hikers, bikes, horses and dogs.

getting there

Take the Black Lake Blvd exit off of US 101, turn left at the light and drive 3.5 miles  where the road becomes 62nd Ave SW. Continue 0.7 mile, turn left onto Delphi Rd SW, and in 2.1 miles bear right onto Waddell Creek Rd SW. In 2.7 miles, continue straight on Sherman Valley Rd. In 1.3 miles, it becomes the C-Line Road. Drive for 2.5 miles, turn left onto Road C-6000, and continue 1.8 miles to its end and the Fall Creek Trailhead (550 ft).

The hike travels through the Sherman Creek Valley and then up Lost Valley. It wanders through both forest and clear cut areas and offers views of Capitol Peak.
