Lost Coast Trail: Northern Section : California
An epic, challenging, 25-mile, one-way, multi-day coastal backpacking trek in a wild and remote section of Northern California.
The Lost Coast Trail (LCT) is a premier 25-mile, 3-4 day, multi-day coastal backpacking trek in Northern California’s King Range National Conservation Area, managed by the BLM. Known for its rugged, undeveloped scenery, the trail spans from Mattole Beach to Black Sands Beach, featuring steep mountains, black-sand beaches, tide pools, and wildlife such as seals and sea lions. It requires mandatory, competitive permits, careful tidal monitoring to bypass "impassable" zones, and offers a remote wilderness experience.
