Kelcema Lake

Lower Deer Creek Road off the Mountain Loop Highway is a popular winter play area. Continuing up Deer Creek Road to Kalcema Lake is a great snowshoe tour. Adding Bald Mountain makes for a great winter scramble or ski tour.

getting there

From Granite Falls drive east on the Mountain Loop Highway to Deer Creek Creek Rd, just before the winter road closure gate (1,575 ft).

Kalcema Lake (3,182 ft)

10 miles round trip, 1,600 feet of elevation gain

Snowshoe or cross-country ski up to Kelcema Lake mostly along Deer Creek Rd, Forest Road 4052, to ~3,100 ft and then west ~0.3 mile to Kalcema Lake.

bald mountain (4,795 ft)

11 miles round trip, 3,200 feet of elevation gain

Snowshoe or ski up to Kelcema Lake mostly along Deer Creek Rd, Forest Road 4052, to ~3,100 ft and then scramble or ski south to the Bald Mountan summit.
