Hansen Ridge

A moderate hike of 8 miles, 1700' gain on recently converted road-to-trail multi-use trail and boot path to views from Little St. Helens.

on the trail

The route to the summit begins at the Hansen Creek Trailhead, following a series of logging roads. Trek under the summit, leaving the forest and entering talus fields. Enjoy views of the Snoqualmie Valley and Humpback Mountain. As you come to the front of the ridge, you will find yourself on a treeless summit, with views across I-90 to Mounts Defiance, Bandera and Granite. If it's a clear day, Rainier is behind you, looming out of the south. To the west find McClellan Butte and Mount Gardner.

Notes

  • Because of traffic from mountain bikers, Little St. Helens may not be the best option in the area for summertime, but it offers great views of the area in the snow (as well as some solitude), making it a nice option for a an early excursion.
  • May be a snow prober hike with final routing dependent on trail conditions in early season.
