Guemes Island & Mountain

Take a short ferry ride from Anacortes to Guemes Island for an easy walk around the island and up to Guemes Mountain. Enjoy a walk through forest, wetlands and prairie habitats to a summit with stunning views of the Skagit flats, San Juan Islands and North Cascades.

on the trail

Walk or bike from the Guemes Island ferry dock to the trailhead on the southeast corner of the  island by any your choice of the streets and roads that lead to the trailhead (about 3 min one-way).

Hike the 1.2 mi and 550 ft elevation gain trail up to Guemes Mountain that was built by Washington Trails Association. This trail is in the Guemes Mountain Conservation Area, a 70-acre protected land created by a partnership between Skagit Land Trust, San Juan Preservation Trust, and the residents of Guemes Island.
