Ski and Walk Val d'Isere and Grand Paradski Resorts, France

Tour Annecy, the Venice of France, enjoying French cuisine, exploring Geneva, and skiing and winter walking at the favorite resort of skiers, Val d’Isere, the largest ski area in the world with 86 lifts and Grand Paradski (Les Arc/La Plagne) with 145 lifts up to 11,500 ft. Skiers who are 72 ski free!

Start your amazing sojourn in Annecy by the beautiful, turquoise Lac d’Annecy,  which is overlooked by wooded, snow-capped mountains.  In the morning  you can explore the many Saturday markets before driving along the shore of Lac d’Annecy to Plan Peisey.  Stop along the way for lunch at Moútiers, a Celtic/Roman village not often visited by tourists.

Then enjoy the vast ski resort of Les Arcs/La Plagne, with 145 lifts up to 11,500 feet.  Stay in a small family run hotel on the ski slope, with lifts to Les Arcs or to the 2-mile long suspension aerial tramway across the valley to La Plagne.  This hotel is sure to satisfy everyone with ski-in, ski out, a lift down to the winter walking trails, an indoor swimming pool which looks directly onto the ski slope, a gym, a dining room which has 270o view of the sun setting over the mountains, and gourmet dinners you will always  remember.

Next, make your way to Val d’Isere, the favorite resort of skiiers.  Savor a lunch in Bourg St. Maurice famous for wines and the Beaufort cheese and cheese factory.   As in many French villages, a Saturday Market will fill the street of the old town.  And, of course, the main event:  the resort of Val d’Isere with 86 lifts, (up to 11,500 ft) some with heated seats.  Stay once again in a  small, family hotel located at the end of the run off of the Bellevarde Express.  On the run to the hotel is the Grand Marnier Crepeier,  the gathering place to share hero stories from the day of skiing while enjoying a crepe soaked in Grand Marnier.  The warm afternoon sun will invite you to linger before returning to the hotel.

Finally, cap off an unforgettable adventure exploring Geneva, Switzerland.
