getting there

From Seattle, follow I-5 north to exit 255 for the Mt. Baker Highway. Follow until Hwy 9, turn left and cross the border at Sumas. After the border crossing, follow BC-1 E to reach the climbing routes spread out between Chilliwack and Yale.

Scheduling & Permits

  • For individual routes and climbing areas, consult the appropriate land manager for permit information and regulations.
  • This route/place allows multiple bookings. If you're planning a climb on the same day as another Mountaineers group, please be sure to coordinate the routs you'll be climbing to minimize our impact.

Considerations for international travel

  • Everyone will need a passport or other valid ID such as an enhanced drivers license.
  • NEXUS cards can save a lot of time but only work if everyone in the car has one.
  • Make sure your vehicle insurance is valid for Canada.
  • Make sure your health insurance is valid for Canada.
  • Border crossing regulations are strict in both directions. Know what you’re allowed to take and declare everything to avoid problems.
