Fort Steilacoom Park

A fantastic heritage site with easy paved and dirt trails that boasts restored dairy farm buildings, a labyrinth overlooking Waughop Lake and views of Mount Rainier on a clear day.

on the trail

A variety of routes can be completed at this City of Lakewood park which include paved and unpaved options. Unpaved trails lead to forest and prairie lands surrounding the park.

For the nature lover, hike through a grove of oak trees, the only native species in the Pacific Northwest called the Garry Oak which are rare to find in an urban setting.

For a shorter option, include the paved trail around Waughop Lake which features tall sequoia trees near the entrance of the loop and choose an easy incline to the labyrinth that overlooks the lake.

Combine various options for a longer day in the park. You can even bring your dog to play in the off-leash dog park.
