Columbia River: Cottonwood Island

Located near Longview, sea kayak from the mouth of the Cowlitz River to the Columbia River and around Cottonwood Island. Consider paddling across the Columbia River and exploring the rocky shore southward from Cottonwood Island.

Paddle out from the mouth of the Columbia River to Carrolls Channel to the north of Cottonwood Island. Then paddle southward to the southern tip of the island. From there, cross the Columbia River toward Prescott Beach Park and continue southward, exploring the rocky coast to Coffin Rock. Cross back to the Washington side of the Columbia River and paddle north along the west side of Cottonwood Island and then back into the Cowlitz River and the launch point.
